The many types of cybercrime

In today's age, almost everybody has access to computers, smartphones, tablets, and the Internet as a whole. Some people access the internet from their home and office. Others do so from a public place, such as a local library.

Regardless of who you are or where you are located, nothing changes the fact that surveillance of the Internet is on the rise. In some ways, this is a good thing as it goes a long way in keeping people safe. However, there are times when police take things too far, targeting a person for a crime that he or she did not commit.

There are many types of cybercrime, with some of the most common including:

-- Electronic fraud

-- Identity theft or forgery

-- Unauthorized access

-- Misuse of a device

-- Data interference

-- Invasion of privacy

-- Hacking

-- Illegal interceptions

-- Harassment and stalking

With some of these crimes, it is easy to see how there could be gray area. For example, you may consider your activity of following a person online friendly. That person, however, could consider this stalking and/or harassment. As a result, it's not inconceivable to believe you could be charged with a crime you did not commit.

Our attorneys understand the many types of cybercrime. They also understand how to implement a defense strategy that helps the accused escape trouble.
