California Men Facing Federal Charges for Revenge Porn Site

Two California men are facing several federal charges for hacking into email accounts and posting nude photos of other people on their “revenge porn” website. The two men are accused of creating and operating a website full of nude images the two men stole by hacking into other people’s accounts.

The two men have been charged with seven counts of unauthorized access of a protected computer, seven counts of aggravated identity theft and conspiracy. One of the men stated in an online video that they developed the scheme after his relationship ended. The scheme then escalated to that man asking the other man to hack into hundreds of accounts to obtain more nude photos and other content for their website, according to the indictment.

The indictment says one of the men asked the other for several nude photos for a payment of $250. Several other emails about financial transactions for nude photos were also listed in the indictment.

The charges against the two men are very serious. If they are convicted, they could face five years in prison for each count they have been charged with. The charge for aggravated identity theft carries a mandatory two-year sentence if they are convicted.

Being convicted of these serious federal crimes could result in a long prison sentence that could impact the rest of their lives. That is why it is important for individuals facing federal charges to understand the crimes they have been charged with and what options may be available to avoid a conviction or being sentenced to prison.
